Welcome to the Rockets Team!
Dear Rockets Families,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 academic year. We are pleased to partner with you in ensuring that your child has a positive educational experience.
Rockets Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide an engaging, safe learning environment where students are challenged to persevere to meet expectations, their diversified needs are met, rigor is implemented, creating productive, creative thinkers and lifelong learners.
The team consists of Dr. Farmer, Mrs. Mattson, Ms. Rivera, Ms. Hamilton, and Mrs. Holt. Parents and support staff are also integral to the success of each student thus it is imperative for all to work cooperatively and communicate openly to meet expectations. This can be achieved through regular phone calls, emails or communicating via the daily agenda.
Since lifelong success depends on learning to make responsible choices, we have developed a classroom discipline plan that, with the school-wide discipline plan, guides every student to make good decisions about behavior. Students deserve the most positive educational climate for their growth, and we know that together, we will make a difference in this process. The following plan outlines our expectations and homework policy. After reading and discussing together, please sign and return the attached acknowledgement form by August 28, 2017.
Rockets Class Expectations
Be punctual and prepared with school supplies
Behave with respect to staff and fellow students
Be neatly dressed in proper school board approved uniform
Refrain from using cell phones in class unless authorized by teacher
All assignments turned in timely
The following is an excerpt from SBBC Policy 6306 (Homework policy). Students shall:
a. Understand that homework is part of the course requirement.
b. Ask questions to clarify homework assignments before leaving class.
c. Complete and submit homework assignments by the due date. (If the student has an excused absence, they will be required to request and complete the make-up work within two days of returning, as per SBBC policy. Zeros will be given for any assignments that are not turned in by the due date or make-up date). Under extenuating circumstances and at teacher’s discretion, additional time to submit the make-up work for full-earned credit and grade may be granted.
d. Complete all assignments honestly in accordance with the teacher’s directions.
The Rockets team teachers will be strictly enforcing this policy so students will be well prepared for High School.
Consequences

School wide and theme planned activities.
Technology Requirements
In preparation for the Florida Standards Assessments technology requirements, your student will have computer-based on-line independent learning activities as part of their homework assignments in all classes. As a result, it is crucial for your student to have regular reliable access to a computer and the internet. Please make any necessary arrangements to ensure your student’s success.
Students are expected to use technology responsibly.
Students have a responsibility to understand the difference between appropriate and unacceptable uses of online communications and information systems, the Internet and networks. Students have a responsibility to use online communications and information systems, the Internet and networks in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal manner in accordance with their educational mission. Students have a responsibility to recognize that the use of online communications and information systems, the Internet and networks is a privilege that can be withdrawn if they engage in unacceptable or illegal use of this resource.
